Red, White, and Blueberry

Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,
Grace and peace to you in this season of Ordinary Time. I pray you’ve had a good, peaceful week and are enjoying summer in July.
This Sunday is quite special in the life of our church as it is the 17th Annual Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Youth Group Memorial Scholarship BBQ and Picnic on the Great Lawn. Hot dogs, hamburgers, scrumptious side dishes, and all things Red, White, and Blueberry will be served as we give out three scholarships to our young adults who are continuing their college education. As we do so, we will remember the life of beloved MRC member, Dennis Zilinski, II who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Our featured speaker at the picnic is Dennis Beauregard, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 12A.
Our picnic is a community-wide event and is a perfect opportunity to introduce a person you know to our church family. So, come and bring a friend to worship if you haven’t been to church in a while or if you’ve been attending every week this Fifth Sunday after Pentecost. Tom Martucci will be leading us in song as we praise our God with music. I will be preaching from Luke 10.25-37, the parable of the Good Samaritan, and my sermon title is Won’t You Be a Neighbor? As it is the second Sunday of the month, we will receive our Deacons’ Offering to help those who are struggling in our community. And with the current climate of inflation, there are many people who are in need of our care in order to get food, pay bills, get their prescriptions filled, and buy gas so they can go to work. Thank you, as always, for your generosity and for being the hands and feet of Christ in our township.
See you Sunday!
In gratitude for the joy of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
