Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, October 9

Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,
Grace and peace to you in this season of Ordinary Time!
All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice with us to sing: alleluia, alleluia!
So begins the hymn “All Creatures of Our God and King,” a hymn we will be singing this Sunday as we celebrate the wonder and beauty of God’s creation with our annual Blessing of the Animals. We’ve decided not to be in the Meditation Garden for two reasons: First, with all the much-needed rain we’ve had, the ground will be quite muddy. Second, the forecast calls for a very chilly night on Saturday which translates to a chilly morning, especially since under the canopy of the forest is always about 10 degrees cooler than the open air. Inside or outside, all beloved pet companions are welcome in church for a blessing. And you know I really do mean all!
It is with a spirit of joy that I look forward to worshiping with you this Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost in person or on Facebook Live. Michelle Reno is singing “Bless the Beasts and the Children” for the Anthem. I will be preaching from Psalm 104 and my sermon title is All God’s Critters.
May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in the Lord’s works (Psalm 104.31)! See you on Sunday!
In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
