Dear MRC Family,
Pentecost blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time.
Richard Rohr’s statement is a piercing challenge for those of us who claim to follow Jesus. Throughout the week, I have been wrestling with his words as they illuminate the Scripture reading for this Sunday.
So come to worship this Third Sunday after Pentecost and let’s see what the Holy Spirit will whisper (or perhaps shout!) to us about following Jesus. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “Where I’m Standing Now” and the Anthem “Lifting Me Up.” I am preaching from Luke 9.51-62 and my sermon title is It Takes More Than a Click to Follow. Together we will explore the question, Do we truly want to follow Jesus in practice, or do we want to be seen following Jesus as perception (Chelsea Brooke Yarborough)? After worship, come downstairs to the Lower Auditorium for coffee and conversation with your church family before you go out to have your summer fun.
Keep following and bothering Jesus. You are loved.
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
