Dear MRC Family,

Blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time

What a joyful worship we had last Sunday as we received our Light and blessed our children and teachers. I hope you’ve been shining your Light this week to everyone whom God has placed in your path.

Keep shining that Light as you come to worship this Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost at 10:30AM to restore and rejuvenate your body and soul. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “The Well” and our Anthem “Home in the Family of God.” Our Scripture reading is Genesis 12.1-9 — God calling Abram and Sarai to leave everything and go forth from Haran — and my sermon title is When God Says, “Go.” Also, we will come to the table of grace and receive the bread of life and the cup of blessing. Of note: Adult Education returns to Coventry House (the parsonage) this Wednesday at 10AM & 7PM. Our topic is Your Questions, Answered and our question for this week is — In Luke 23.43, Jesus assures the criminal that he will join him in heaven today; however, the Apostles’ Creed that we recite during baptisms says Jesus spent three days in hell. Which is it?

Please make sure you come to church next Sunday, September 27, as well. Since I’ve been back from vacation, I’ve been listening to you intently — your prayers, your concerns, your joys, your hopes, and what I’ve been hearing is you are burdened, weary, and wondering. Every day there is something coming at us, and most of the time, it is not uplifting for our souls. So, I invite you to come next Sunday for a Worship of Unburdening when we will name our concerns, what we’ve been carrying, what has been hurting us, whether out loud or on a piece of paper, and give them to Jesus in a safe, loving, and hopeful environment. Please note this worship will not be live on our YouTube page in order to protect privacy.

Of note: We are having a Rummage Sale October 2 - 3, 9AM - 3PM in the Education Building. Come early to browse and enjoy coffee as you search for treasures! If you would like to donate items, please put them in the Coventry House garage on the tables. Please NO books, records, CDs, VHS, cassette tapes, or large furniture. And during the rummage sale on October 2, there will also be a Free Wellness Screening from Hackensack Meridian Health from 9AM - 12PM.
