Dear MRC Family,
Advent blessings of hope and peace to you
I was just out shopping with my sister and her husband and I can tell you with assurance the Christmas holiday momentum is in full swing. Every shop was filled with Christmas ornaments, decorations, candy, cards, and, of course, there was a lot of traffic on the roads. The snow flurries falling down certainly added to the festive feeling of this season. It’s easy to get caught up in the hectic hullabaloo of this time of year, isn’t it?
But I know what I cherish most during Advent is the practice of peace, be still. Do you long for peace, also? As our Advent devotional questions, What is peace? What does it look like, sound like, feel like, smell like, taste like?
Come to worship this Second Sunday of Advent to experience Peace, to have a respite from a weary, hectic hullabaloo world. Tom is leading us in our hymns and will sing the Anthem “Joy Unto the World.” Lisa Leidecker will be lighting the second candle on our Advent Wreath, the candle of Peace. I am preaching from Ezekiel 37.1-14 —Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of the dry bones coming back to life — and my sermon title is Ruach, meaning spirit, breath, wind. Also, we will come to God’s table of wide open grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper by intinction. If you are unable to be in person for worship, we will be streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@mrcafabulouschurchoflove1611.
Keep following and bothering Jesus, beloved
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
