Dear MRC Family,
Lenten blessings to you
Yes, beloved one, I am aware there is a potential for yet another winter storm/Nor’easter on Sunday. Le sigh. We will monitor the weather today and tomorrow, but as of now in person worship is still on! And since we’re on the subject of snow, let me add a big thank you to those who contributed to our last snow removal bill — you are so very generous!
Now back to worship stuff . . .
As you are fully aware, we are in the season of Lent, but, truly what’s it all about? Are we really required to give up something during this time? Must we fast? Do penance? Does God require such things of us? It seems that’s what we hear so often about this season. But perhaps, we may need to “give up Lent for Lent,” as my friend Jeff Chu said.
So come on out to worship this Sunday at 10:30 AM as we discover together what Lent is about and what God “requires” of us. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “Is He Worthy” and the Anthem “Praise You Anywhere.” The New Jericho Choir will bless us with the Message for all ages singing “Change My Heart, O God.” I am preaching from Genesis 17.1-7; 15-16 — to learn about Lent let’s start from the beginning of grace — and my sermon title is Lent - A Journey Toward Love. If you are unable to be in person for worship, we will be streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@mrcafabulouschurchoflove1611.
Lastly, here is the reflection question for this upcoming week from our Lenten devotional Tell Me Something Good: Grounding ourselves in the good news this Lent (TMSG) from A Sanctified Art: Have you ever been surprised by overflowing goodness? I would love to hear your answers!
Keep following and bothering Jesus
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
