Dear MRC Family,

Pentecost blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time

We begin a new lectionary cycle this Sunday, and with fresh starts it’s always good to begin at the beginning. So come this Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost at 10:30AM to begin anew with your church family. We will hear the poetically beautiful creation story from Genesis 1.1-2.4a — What does this story tell us about the intimacy and love that God has with this marvelous thing we call our home? What does it say about our original and continued goodness? — and my sermon title is And God Saw That It Was Good. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “Faithful Still” and the Anthem “The Lord Will Provide.” Also, we will come to the table of extravagant grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together as the body of Christ.

Mark your calendars for the following upcoming events at MRC:

Summer has ended and it's time to come back to church as our fall programming begins -- Rally Day Worship, September 14 at 10:30AM with the Blessing of the Backpacks and the sharing of our Light. After worship, we will have our Sunday brunch in the Education Building.

I'm looking forward to leading our Adult Education starting on September 17 at 10AM & 7PM in Coventry House. Our study is called "I've been meaning to ask . . ." produced by sanctifiedart.org. For more details and a description, click on Adult Education on this website.

We would love your help:
We need your trash! Our MRC Community Garden compost pile has gotten very low and the Garden Group would be grateful if you would contribute your coffee/tea grounds, egg shells, vegetable and fruit scraps, but no meat, so we can build it back up in order to prepare the beds for the winter. Put your scraps in a plastic bag or container and drop them off in the waist-high raised bed that is outside the garden on the far left.

Not only has our compost pile gotten low but so have the meals for our Casserole on Call ministry. This ministry provides home cooked meals to those in our community (and beyond) who are shut-ins, recovering from illness and/or hospitalizations, enduring grief and loss, or people who are in need of a meal. If you have leftovers from a meal you’ve prepared, consider donating them to this important ministry. Please label the meal what it is, the date you prepared it, and put it in the box freezer in the Education Building kitchen.

See you on Sunday!

Keep following and bothering Jesus, beloved.

With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
