Dear MRC Family,
Eastertide blessings to you, beloved of God
In addition to letting you know what’s in store for worship this Sunday, I want to share with you an opportunity for ministry and some upcoming events in the life of our church.
First, as you are aware, Elder Dan Pannebaker has moved back to Wisconsin thus leaving vacant a position on Consistory for this year and next. If you feel God is calling you to serve in this ordained leadership position and finish out his term, please let me know as soon as you are able.
Second, June 1 is Pride Sunday! As we have done every year since 2016 (except the Covid years) we will be marching in the Asbury Park Pride Parade, sharing God’s inclusive and expansive love for ALL God’s people. This year is going to be even more fun as we are marching together with the Community Church of Keyport — two churches united in God’s love! If you wish to march in the parade or ride in the pickup truck please let me know no later than May 30.
Third, time to pull out all of your unwanted baubles and bits for our Rummage Sale, June 13-14. We are now taking donations for the sale and you may put them on/under the tables in Coventry House garage, in sealed boxes or bags, as we do have some furry critters of God who like to hang out in the garage. Please NO books, furniture, or records.
Lastly, it’s the reason we exist as a church — worship!
Come this Fifth Sunday of Easter to refresh and rejuvenate your soul for the coming week. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Anthem “Revolutionary.” I am preaching from Acts 15.1-18 — the very first church meeting — and my sermon title is No Longer a Distinction. And, we will come to God’s table of faith and grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper united as the body of Christ.
See you Sunday. Keep following Jesus, beloved.
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
