Dear MRC Family,

Blessings of peace to you

You are warmly welcomed to start your Lenten journey at MRC with Ash Wednesday worship at 7 PM this Wednesday, February 18. I have a beautiful devotional to give you as we journey with Jesus through the wilderness to the cross and then the empty tomb called Tell Me Something Good: Grounding ourselves in the good news this Lent from A Sanctified Art. I think we all need to focus on some good news these days!

Also, when you come to MRC to worship during Lent you will see our Lenten table in the sanctuary. On it, you will find the readings and artwork for each week. I will also have a binder called the “Tell Me Something Good” book where you are invited to write down answers to the following questions (also in your devotional):

Good news I have heard and received

Moments when I have enjoyed the goodness of God

I have shared the good news by

Everyday rituals that ground me in goodness

Throughout Lent, my hope is to share some of these good news moments during the Prayers of the People in order to encourage us to look for goodness during the week.

So come to worship this Wednesday at 7PM as we begin grounding ourselves in goodness. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “Goodness of God” and the Joyful Noise Adult Choir will bless us with the Anthem “For Love of You.” We will sing, pray, listen, and partake of the Bread of Life and Cup of Blessing to strengthen us for the journey. And, of course, I will impose ashes as we remember, “From dust you came, and to dust you shall return.” Blessed be the name of the Lord. If you are unable to be in person for worship, we will be streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@mrcafabulouschurchoflove1611.

Remember you are dust,

the substance of the stars,

animated with the Breath of Life.

Uniquely formed in the image and

likeness of Divine Love.

Authored in hope, forged in joy,

very good of very good,

no accident we,

this beloved quickened dust,

knit to love and be loved.

Remember you are dust.

Amen
