We Are People on a Journey: Fifth Sunday in Lent

posted Apr 1, 2022, 7:02 AM by Tricia Sheffield

Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,

Lenten blessings to you!

Beloved of God, I look forward to being with you in person or on Facebook live this Fifth Sunday in Lent at 10:30 AM because, once again, the music for this Sunday’s worship is going to inspire your Lenten journey. You will notice our order of worship will be a bit different, with Scripture and inspirational readings, interspersed with sacred music. We are blessed to have four guest musicians this week — Mayumi Grasso, cello; Brian Kolins, percussion; Tom Martucci, electric bass; and Andrew Olenik, violin. Tim Anderson will be leading the Joyful Noise Adult Choir singing “African Canticle”(Kuimba Sifa Kwa Mungu); Michelle Reno will sing “We Are People on a Journey;” and I will sing a song from the Hebrew Prayer Book, “L’dor Vador.” My sermon-reflection is based on the Scripture John 12.1-8, Mary’s anointing of Jesus’ feet, and it is called A Fragrant Offering. We will also gather around God’s table of extravagant grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together. And, please make sure to stop by our Lenten table to take in the Meditation and Practices for the Week as we seek God’s beauty through Van Gogh’s artwork, “Shoes.”

See you on Sunday, MRC family. Know you are loved by God beyond measure!

In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
