For This Lord's Day - Thanksgiving and Welcome

Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,

The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you during this season of Lent. Even though it is cold here in New Jersey, I hope you are enjoying the brilliant sunshine.

We have quite a day planned for this Lord’s Day in addition to our regular worship! First, we will give thanks for our outgoing Consistory members — Deacons Dot Bradley and Dara Steele and Elders Janet Colmorgen and Beverly Poyner — and then ordain and install our incoming Consistory members — Susan Generoso, Marlys Potter, Elisabeth Poyner, and Mary Beth Sweeney. After we have welcomed them as newly installed Officers of the church, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together, giving thanks to God for this holy and visible sign of an invisible grace.

Beloved, let us gather online as the body of Christ this Third Sunday in Lent at 10:15 AM to chat with one another, and then worship at 10:30 AM via Zoom and livestream via YouTube. Michael Steib is our featured soloist and he will sing “His Mercy is More” and “Spirit.” I will be preaching from John 2.13-22 and my sermon title is Temple Zeal.

I will see you on Sunday. As we continue our Lenten journey in the wilderness with Jesus, may we continue to believe and “Hope nonetheless. Hope despite. Hope regardless. Hope still” (Jan Richardson), more powerfully than we grieve.

In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
