Come! Let Us Worship the Lord!

Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,

Blessings of Pentecost joy be with you!

My goodness, the weather in New Jersey has been brutally hot. I hope you have been staying cool and taking good care of yourselves during this time. I urge you to check on neighbors, especially those with breathing issues, to make sure they are safe and keeping hydrated.

As announced last week the Calico Cat Food Pantry of the Community Outreach Group is, once again, asking for our help in their Back to School Gift Card Program for working families in need in our community. They are asking that we donate $25 gift cards so that parents and caregivers may purchase items for their children returning to school in the fall. Beverly Scarano has asked that we bring our gift cards to church, or give them to her, Linda Goltz, or myself, instead of mailing them into the Calico Cat. Alternatively, you may drop them off at the Education Building throughout the week. Please know that gift cards should be received by August 30.

In addition, as most of you are aware, we were scheduled to have our Parsonage Porch Party tonight. But today is another day of scorching heat with an excessive heat warning for our area. Since your health and safety is always of primary concern to me, and several of our people find it difficult to be outside in this type of weather, I have decided to reschedule the Parsonage Party to next Friday, August 20 when it will be cooler. I look forward to welcoming you to Coventry House under the fairy lights next week!

But first, beloved family of God, I look forward to welcoming you to worship at 10:30 AM this Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost in person or via YouTube — MRC: A Fabulous Church of Love. Our featured musician is Sarah Gordon, and she will be playing on flute the Prelude “For the Beauty of the Earth” and for our Anthem she will be singing “Imagine.” We will continue our August Sermon Series from the Letter of James called “Bible Doing” and my sermon title is When Words Make a World

Please note that since the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 is rising in our state, and Monmouth County is a high transmission zone for the variant, we strongly urge/request that everyone wear a mask for worship and indoor church events. Thank you for your cooperation in loving yourself, your neighbor and keeping everyone safe and healthy.

In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
